Enjoy the sweeter things in life

The namesake for the Castello del Poggio Estate comes from a 12th-century fortress, belonging to the aristocratic Bunéis family.

Castello del Poggio lies in the heart of the Asti area, a historic region admired for its famous wines, like Grignolino and Moscato and is also linked to the rebirth of the Barbera varietal, a cultivar destined for making top-quality red wines that are seductively expressive and long-lived.

Castello del Poggio bottles the Sweet Life in Italy amid a lush landscape that blooms within its own microclimate. This is where the world’s most sought after wines are produced, including our latest Secret Garden Collection: Moscato IGT, Sweet Rosé, Sweet Red, Sparkling Moscato, and Prosecco DOC.

Asti has been known over the centuries as an emblem of Italian viticulture and oenology. The estate, with its noble heritage, owed its name to the medieval fortification that once belonged to Count Buneis and is now the most extensive single wine-producing land mass in Piedmont.

Inside the Estate

With 185+ acres of estate, these vines receive excellent airing, ideal sun exposure and limited production per plant, lasting on average 25 years in accordance with Piedmont winemaking traditions.

The vineyards are divided between the municipality of Asti, where the Barbera, Grignolino, Dolcetto, Brachetto and Cascina Briccone varieties grow and the municipality of Costigliole d’Asti, which is mainly dedicated to Moscato d’Asti.

The adopted training method is the Guyot espalier, which has proven to be able to adapt better to the characteristics of Piedmont native vines, with a growing density of 4,000/5,000 plants per hectare.
